April 2010 Middle East Banquets

The Rawlings Foundation sponsored three International Baptist Network (IBN)banquets for pastors and their wives recently in the Middle East under theleadership of Dwight and Jeanne Billingsley.

The Banquets were held onthree consecutive days in Beirut, Lebanon, Damascus, Syria and Amman, Jordanin April of 2010. There are now over 125 Arabic-speaking Baptist pastors on the network. Dwight and Jeanne Billingsley have been working in the Arabic speaking Middle East since their approval as Missionaries in 1965, though in recentyears their role has changed into that of a facilitator, advisor and coordinator.

The Lebanese Civil War of 1975-1990 necessitated all BBFI missionaries leave the country. Billingsley began to organize the pastors in 2001 and the first event was a conference at the Rawlings' Castle near Brussels, Belgium in 2004; it was the first of its kind ever and the pastors were able to meet their counterparts from all the countries in the MiddleEast, Europe and North America. Another conference/workshop was recentlyheld on a floating hotel down the Nile River in Egypt. Jeanne Billingsleywas able to conduct the seminar for the pastors' wives and Dwight led the sessions for the Pastors.

According to the Billingsleys, the churches in all the Arabic countries and Israel are experiencing growth and are winningmany to Christ. Every church in America should get behind this effort.

The BBFI Mission Office in Springfield, MO handles financial gifts for this effort.
